Aging Related Projects--Volunteers Needed!!!

The Division of Aging Services has reached out to us about the critical need of volunteers for aging related projects. These projects can range from nursing home visits, delivering meals, preparing meals, or administrative work. The aging population is growing every day and they need your help! Please contact Cynthia Dunn at chdunn@dhr.state.ga.us if you'd like to get matched with an agency in need!

Senior Citizen Services

Senior Citizen Services is the oldest provider of home-delivered meals in Atlanta.  The agency works closely with other organizations and several churches to meet the needs of Atlanta's elderly who depend on this life-sustaining service.  SCS's Meals on Wheels Atlanta program provides nearly 300 nutritious meals daily to homebound seniors who are unable to cook for themselves.  Many of these people live alone, are bedridden, disabled, or do not have a support system to help with meal preparation.  Each client is qualified based upon nutrition and financial need and location.

  • Meal options include regular, diabetic, low sodium, renal, mechanical soft, vegetarian, and modified.
  • Enables our clients to remain independent and maintain a healthy diet.
  • Regular visits with volunteers and staff offer clients support and friendship.
Volunteer scheduling is extremely flexible!

Meal deliveries occur Tuesday through Saturday including Christmas and Thanksgiving.

You'll be helping improve the quality of life of an older adult and gain the personal satisfaction knowing that your time and talent makes a difference.

To volunteer for the program, contact Patrick O'Kane at VolunteerCoordinator@scsatl.org or 404.351.6194.
