Position Description:
The Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta is seeking an event fundraising intern to assist with two fundraisers -  the Atlanta Mattress 500, a fundraising event to be held October 13, 2012, features racers, four bed pushers and one bed rider, who race through Atlantic Station and Chairish the Future, to be held March 9, 2013, is an art auction and gala.
An intern will assist with all aspects of both events including registration, recruitment of teams or artists, fundraising, web development, correspondence with participants and sponsors, solicit in-kind donations, event logistics, among other things. This is an unpaid position. 
Internship Dates: August 1 (start date flexible) – December 1, several meetings a month
Hours: 2 – 5 hours a week
Responsibilities:
·         Coordinate and support the Fundraising Team
·         Help create and maintain team participant roster
·         Manage and track communications with teams
·         Assist with communication with sponsors
·         Develop and assist with event logistics
·         Solicit in kind donations for the race
·         Write and oversee the sending of thank you letters
·         Attend and participate in all committee meetings
Qualifications:
·         Must be responsible, motivated, capable of independent work, and eager to support people fleeing domestic violence, living with HIV/AIDS or moving out of homeless situations.
·         Proficiency with Office software, including MS Word and Excel
·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills and prioritizing
·         Ability to work on multiple projects

The Furniture Bank’s vision is for all individuals and families in need to have the necessary furniture to live safely and securely.  Our mission is to recycle used furniture from individuals and companies and give it to people moving out of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence and living with HIV/AIDS.

Camp New Hope Counselors

Who: Volunteers who are self-motivated and willing to go the extra mile to provide an exceptional experience that will be talked about for years to come. Age requirement: Minimum age of 21 (exceptions are made only by the Camp Director) What: A camp created especially for children living with sickle cell disease. When: June 9-15, 2012 Where: Camp Will-A-Way, a Camp Twin Lakes, Inc. facility located in Winder, GA at Fort Yargo State Park * Cabins are air conditioned and handicap accessible. Campers and volunteers have 24/7 access to medical staff. To apply for Camp New Hope, fill out the application form by April 27, 2012. Once the completed application form is received you will be emailed or mailed the follow up paperwork which includes: waivers, immunization form or copy of immunization records, and a medical form that must be signed by a medical professional (e.g. student health center). This paperwork must be returned by May 11, 2012.

Back 2 Basics Kids Foundation

Volunteers:
We are searching for volunteers to assist with field trip supervision, after school care, flyer distribution, clean up projects, and canned food drives.  Outstanding volunteers will receive support from Back 2 Basics Kids Foundation.  B2B offers incentives for great performance.  We also write reference letters and provide knowledge in the areas of non-profit formulation, community involvement and business.

Internships:
Interns will work closely with B2B directors to help develop and sustain programs for the youth of Atlanta.  Duties will include marketing, fundraising, program formulation and presentation, emailing and callbacks, writing letters and proposals, setting directors' schedules, youth supervision, and more.

These are unpaid internships, but interns will have the ability to earn money through our bonus program.  Also, we will be working closely with employers to help find jobs for those who excel.  B2B will also provide part-time and full-time positions to those who excel.  This is an excellent opportunity to get free training and real world business experience.

Interns must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per week and are required to have a cell phone, daily internet access and reliable transportation.

Back 2 Basics is also looking for volunteer youth BASKETBALL coaches.
