Career and Internship Fair


University Career Services invites GSU students and GSU alumni to meet with employers seeking candidates interested in great career opportunities.  This fair is open to all majors, students (undergraduate and graduate), and alumni of GSU.

·         Dress professionally as the employers notice. 
·         Bring copies of your résumé to give to employers.
·         Need help with your résumé?  University Career Services provides walk-in (no appointment needed) résumé review services, Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm in  Room 260, University Center.

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia


THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART OF GEORGIA
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

MOCA GA needs
·        Front desk volunteers
·        Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays
·        One of two shifts:  10am – 2pm OR 2pm – 5pm
·        2-4 days/month

Among front desk volunteer duties are the following:
·        answer phones and direct calls
·        check and stock handouts and catalogues
·        assist guests with directions and general information about the exhibitions
·        assist staff with various projects

Volunteer perks:
·        MOCA GA membership after 20 hours volunteering
·        opportunity to attend and participate in member-only or member-discounted events
·        opportunity to help with special events
·        opportunity to interact with living, working artists
·        free parking

NOTE:  Volunteers are encouraged to bring personal projects, books, etc.  If there are no visitors in the museum and no projects awaiting their attention, volunteers are encouraged, to read, draw, correspond with friends, etc.

Position Description:
The Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta is seeking an event fundraising intern to assist with two fundraisers -  the Atlanta Mattress 500, a fundraising event to be held October 13, 2012, features racers, four bed pushers and one bed rider, who race through Atlantic Station and Chairish the Future, to be held March 9, 2013, is an art auction and gala.
An intern will assist with all aspects of both events including registration, recruitment of teams or artists, fundraising, web development, correspondence with participants and sponsors, solicit in-kind donations, event logistics, among other things. This is an unpaid position. 
Internship Dates: August 1 (start date flexible) – December 1, several meetings a month
Hours: 2 – 5 hours a week
Responsibilities:
·         Coordinate and support the Fundraising Team
·         Help create and maintain team participant roster
·         Manage and track communications with teams
·         Assist with communication with sponsors
·         Develop and assist with event logistics
·         Solicit in kind donations for the race
·         Write and oversee the sending of thank you letters
·         Attend and participate in all committee meetings
Qualifications:
·         Must be responsible, motivated, capable of independent work, and eager to support people fleeing domestic violence, living with HIV/AIDS or moving out of homeless situations.
·         Proficiency with Office software, including MS Word and Excel
·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills and prioritizing
·         Ability to work on multiple projects

The Furniture Bank’s vision is for all individuals and families in need to have the necessary furniture to live safely and securely.  Our mission is to recycle used furniture from individuals and companies and give it to people moving out of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence and living with HIV/AIDS.
