Literacy Action
Delivered Vessels
Help us put an end to child sexual abuse and exploitation of children. Demonstrate your shared commitment to the eradication of this horrific instance that has plagued our children long enough. Together we make a difference- but first it starts with you-won't you join us?
We need students to help at a local charter school in Cobb County near Fulton County line. We are looking for student volunteers that would be interested in tutoring students from 3rd-8th grades in Math and Reading.
If interested in volunteering contact Chandra Southern by emailing info@deliveredvessels.org.

Student Press Law Center
The Student Press Law Center is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3)
nonprofit based in the Washington, D.C., area, and we work closely with a
Georgia affiliate, the Georgia First Amendment Foundation, on issues
relating to open government and sunshine laws.
We are interested in jointly providing a volunteer opportunity for a
GSU student to work at the GFAF office, or remotely from home, or some
combination of the two, doing outreach work for our respective
organizations. We are always in need of assistance with a variety of tasks,
including: monitoring the progress of legislation at the state level,
identifying opportunities for our attorneys to speak and publish articles,
updating the contact list for people to receive our publications, and so on.
We definitely would be able to occupy as much time as the student cared to offer,
and we could tailor the work around the student's areas of
interest.
Here are the websites of the two organizations, for more information about
what we do:

For more information, please contact Frank LoMonte at 703-807-1904 x121 or by email at director@splc.org.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Happy New VITA Season All!
Want to help provide thousands of dollars to your neighbors in need? Sign-up NOW to become a volunteer with VITA for the 2011 Tax Season! The Atlanta Prosperity Campaign, an initiative of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, is recruiting volunteers now to participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program for upcoming tax season. Volunteers helped prepare over 12,500 tax returns with $18+ million in refunds during 2010 Tax Season, but with your help we could do much more to serve Metro-Atlanta low-to-moderate income working families.
We have volunteer opportunities at more than 45 VITA sites in 11 metro counties to suit any personality type, interest and background. Intake Administrators, Interpreters, Quality Reviewers and Tax Preparers needed. No prior financial experience necessary, but required training will be offered for all volunteer positions except interpreters. We are working with the GA Bar association to ensure that licensed attorneys receive pro-bono credit for volunteering. Additionally, for those seeking CPE credits, we will have letters available on-site at the conclusion of each training session for volunteers to provide to their respective governing agencies.
For specific information on volunteer positions, requirements and training please click (or copy and paste into browser) on the links below. Additionally I have included our Volunteer Recruiting Flyer for you to share with other who may be interested in volunteering.(After clicking/visiting the links below, please click the green volunteer button to sign-up. The green sign-up button will not direct volunteers to our registration webpage. Returning volunteers can utilize their log-ins from 2010).
